Our New Products Have Arrived

There was much speculation over what was going on at our James St store this week. Our windows were covered over and the team was scurrying in and out with mysterious looking boxes. Were we closing down? Were we preparing for some kind of tropical cyclone? No- Something much more exciting has been going on...

On Friday we ripped off the paper to reveal our newest collection of candles, soaps and beautiful gifts. We have been working very hard this week to get it all organised and it is looking spectacular (if I can say so myself). Our James St store has been transformed into a luxurious boutique filled with our gorgeous new products as well as select pieces of furniture and accessories.

The collection includes three distinct ranges, Cote Noire, Dunbar Sloane and Villa Collezione, representing the three styles of French & English. Each of these ranges feature six handcrafted scents available in candles, soaps, room spays, diffusers and body wash and lotions. Just in time for Christmas, they are all beautifully packaged and make exquisite gifts that anyone would love to receive. We can’t wait to show them to you! Come in for a visit, relax away from the Christmas rush and experience our beautiful new products.

After seeing lasts weeks response to our fantastic Union Jack commode we just had to show you this one too. They are a great couple. The Marseille French elegance in contrast to the Union Jack's bold colours and edge.

We love the delicate detailing on this commode. Especially these lovely handles. They add a chic vintage touch, which works so well with many of our other pieces.

Its always exciting to see our lovely pieces in their final home. Its interesting to see how they look out of our showroom and blended with a home, office or even other retail environment.

The pictures below show a gorgeous new salon that has recently opened here in Brisbane. The Wolf & Cub fitout is sooo stylish with quite an eclectic mix of old and new. Owner Rebecca has used our Provincial Trestle Leg Dining Table in her consulting area and it looks great. Mix in some French Chairs and to die for wallpaper.......I think I could happily while away some time getting my tresses done!

Happy 1st Birthday Doggett St

It is hard to believe that it was a whole year ago that with much excitement we opened the doors to our latest Brisbane store.

It has been a big year for us at Doggett St filled with fun events, sales and the occasional flood based calamity. We love our newest store especially the space. Having the ability to present our furniture as a complete room allows our customers to picture our beautiful furniture in their own homes.

Attention night owls of Brisbane! French & English James St will be staying up late on Thursday the 8th of September to participate in the launch of James St Up Late, the precinct's first late night trading evening.

With Jan Powers farmer's markets, live music from international and local artists as well as plenty of great deals on, this evening it is one not to be missed.

Our James St store will be open until 8pm which is a great opportunity for our customers who find it difficult to make our normal opening hours. We at French and English are absolutely delighted to be supporting local artist Irene Vides. Irene has generously provided us with 10 limited edition prints from her "Audrey collection". Each print is numbered and signed by the artist for investment purposes.

Irene is a very talented young artist whose work is original and fresh. We love the free and open nature of her brushstrokes and mature use of colour which captures the human sentiment of a moment. This beautiful Audrey above is now on display in our James St store.

At French and English to say we love our coffee is a mild understatement! We are very fortunate to work in the James St precinct because we have so many different options to cure our coffee cravings.

We have recently found our new favourtie coffee hot spot - Bellissimo Coffee.

Bellissimo is a favourite for the 'locals'. Hidden behind James St in Wandoo St you can smell the coffee roasting from afar.

Us girls at French and English love our morning stroll over to Bellissimo where we know we will never be disappointed.

Maybe this weekend you should try to warm yourself up with a coffee from Bellissimo.

It's starting to feel alot like Winter here in Brisbane so our bed displays with all the gorgeous bedlinen and featherdown pillows and doonas look so inviting. Oh how nice it would be to snuggle down with a hot chocolate!
